We now have 14 people taking part in our slim for Christian Aid challenge. We are asking for sponsorship from our generous congregation. You can sponsor a person (all have pseudonyms, so you won’t know who it is) per lb lost, or the whole team for a minimal amount per lb. You can follow your sponsee’s progress for the next 3 months on a chart in the porch. Please see Heather, Carol or Glennys for more details.
Gift Aid: As we approach the end of the tax year at the end of March, I am reminding the congregation that being able to Gift Aid their offertory giving is an excellent way for the Church to benefit. Currently whatever amount is given and Gift Aided, results in an extra 25p for every £1 which can be claimed from tax recovery. There is no additional cost to yourselves.
People must be taxpayers and the amount given must be traceable via a standing order, the card machine or using offertory envelopes. If anyone would like more information about this scheme, please see me. I have details of the Church Bank account if you wish to pay direct through your bank. A Gift Aid declaration form will need to be completed before any gift aided money can be claimed.
Please let me know if anyone who already Gift Aids their offertory giving has moved house or their circumstances have changed and they now do not pay tax. The new offertory envelopes for the next financial year beginning April 2026 will be available shortly. Thank you to members of the congregation who already Gift Aid their offering enabling the Church to receive extra money from the Government, amounting to just over £12,000 for the last tax year, at no extra cost to themselves.
Ann Massey, Gift Aid Secretary, February 2026.
