Sunday's Streamed Service
Advent Week 1

In this season of Advent we’re waiting for Jesus’ birth, to celebrate this amazing day but as we prepare, many other things connected to the season tend to fill our minds and take our attention. In our Advent Liturgy we remind ourselves to ‘hush’ the calls of external matters to make time in our hearts to be prepared for this wonderful event.
From the book of Jeremiah we read:
The days are coming declares the Lord, when I will fulfil the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah.
In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line: he will do what is just and right in the land.
…. This is the name by which he will be called; ‘The Lord our Righteous Saviour’.
Before we light our first candle to remind and guide us,
let’s all say these words.
The words are on the screen.
Let’s seek to see and seek to hear.
Let’s seek to feel and seek to know.
Let’s seek to find peace and love.
O hush the noise,
Let’s hear the angels sing.
Please now light the first red candle.
We will now sing verse 1 of StF No.165
Please remain seated as we sing this.
1 Advent candles tell their story
as we watch and pray,
longing for the Day of Glory,
‘Come, Lord, soon,’ we say.
Pain and sorrow, tears and sadness
changed for gladness
on that day.
