Saturday morning was damp and dull but it didn’t deter 47 of us venturing out on church trip to the lakes. We all arrived early, boarded the coach and set off on time, picking a few more up before we left Bolton.

Our first stop was at Windermere Hotel where we had either a coffee or tea before setting off to Ambleside for our boat trip down to Bowness. We boarded the boat, found a dry seat and somewhere sheltered as it was raining!!! Never mind it was fun.

We had a scary moment as we couldn’t find one young gentleman who will remain nameless, after a search he was found on the lower deck in the first class enjoying a comfortable seat.

The lake was shrouded with low cloud and that fine rain you get wet with!!!!

We are arrived at Bowness the rain was coming down quite steady. We had our lunch, some ventured to find some café, others had their packed lunch on the coach. At 2ish we all assembled on the coach, some of looking very wet but still enjoying ourselves and set off to Kendal where we had a wander round the shops which were under cover.

By this time the weather had improved and we made our way back to Bolton, but it was a most enjoyable day.

A very big thank you to Joyce and Bob for organising the day and making sure everyone was alright. Also to our coach driver Kevin who had some tricky manoeuvres to do round the busy twisty roads in the Lakes. Someone suggested the Caribbean next year.
