Service Review: 26th June 2016

Our morning service was led by Mr. Peter Holland and his theme was "Would be Followers".

We started our service with call to worship followed by our first hymn "For the fruits of his creation" played and led by our Praise Band. Brian and Annie led our opening Prayers followed by the Lord's prayer.

Peter's children's address was about instructions and everyone had to follow him on making a paper butterfly (we were given a square of paper before the Service) which caused smiles throughout the congregation as they made the butterflies and concluded his talk by saying we all should be flying with Christ.

Our next hymn accompanied by the Praise Band and the children either playing instruments or waving flags was "We are marching in the light of God", after which Peter said a prayer for the Junior church and they went into their different classes.

Astley read both the old and new testament readings 1Kings 19 v 19-21 and Luke 9 v 57-62 followed by the hymn "All for Jesus- all for Jesus."

Peter theme for his sermon was "Would be Followers" giving us examples from both the old testament and new ,how Elisha went off to become a trainee prophet for Elijah and Jesus asking three of his disciples to give up everything no matter what commitments they had to do and each one of them gave an excuse "I will follow you but"----- "First let me bury my father"------- "Let me say goodbye to my family" before they could go with him. (Luke 9 v 19-21).

Peter gave the example of the ox who has a wooden and iron yoke fasten to him , and if we have Jesus with us he will guide us and walk with us throughout our journey of life, we are free from sin free from the past and can share his love with everyone we meet.

Our next hymn accompanied by the band was "Will you come and follow me" followed by the Offering and prayers of intersession led by Steph.

We ended our service with "I, the Lord of sea and sky" and how appropriate the chorus was:

"Here I am Lord.
Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go lord
if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my Heart."

Thank you Peter for a wonderful message and may God continue to bless you. Also thank to the Praise Band for playing and leading our singing.
