Before the service, Chloe one of our worship leaders went live on face book showing the pre-service activity. This is the second week this has been done and last week it reached 2800 people.
As we are working on the theme of Hero’s Chloe was named as one of this month’s hero’s. Hilary then went on to talk about another hero Irena Sendler who single handed rescued 2500 babies and children from Warsaw during the second world war, keeping a note of all their names so that after the war she could reunite them with their parents or find them foster care or families.
We then went onto the biblical hero of the month Esther. She was a Jewish orphan brought up by her cousin Mordecai who found favor with the king and he made her his queen. We were told the story with the children – pantomime style - every time Hilary whispered, “God was quiet “they shouted “but God was there”.
Esther is worth a read it has enough intrigue plots and killing that would not be out of place in a thriller – look it up its good. The essence was that Esther at great personal risk asked the King to save her Jewish people. Stated that “if I perish, I perish” With all three of our female hero’s they had the courage to stand up to what was right, this we all need to do in everyday life.
We need to stand up for what is right even if we stand alone.
