Susy's service synopsis: Hi everyone. When I was asked to do a review I was concerned the service may not be very good! I need not have worried as, as always, the service was interesting and inspirational.
One thing I enjoy about the Methodist church is having a variety of ministers and preachers doing the services - giving more variety within worship and different peoples views for us to consider.
Today not only did we have the pleasure of Jane Close, an experienced local preacher taking the service, but we also had Glen from our own congregation doing the prayers. He is hoping to be a local preacher in the future and if today's prayers are anything to go by he will be excellent.
"Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us."
Today our service was about forgiveness. We learnt how forgiveness is easy to receive but difficult to give. We all sin. God took the punishment for our sins. Though we are forgiven by God we still have to bear the consequences of the sins we have committed. When we sin against others we sin against God. There is salvation, redemption, and forgiveness for all through God's love. Through bearing the consequences of our previous sin we learn to not sin in the same way again and to walk closer to God.
In our prayers we prayed for our country with the Queens 90th birthday celebrations. We prayed for those injured through football hooliganism. We celebrated the good in our country and prayed for peace.
I would like to thank all those involved in making today's service enjoyable and thought-provoking.
