6th August 2017 - Another lovely morning at the Junior Church Holiday Club, we were joined by a few older children who were let’s say slightly excitable and lucky enough to have Les, Colin and David take them over to the Annexe for a big game of table tennis and skittles !
Meanwhile, the rest of the group enjoyed playing with the wide variety of toys, games and activities that had been generously provided.
The parents and volunteers appreciated a cuppa and a natter whilst the children played happily.
After an hour of continuous fun, we scurried upstairs excited for the parachute-portion of the morning. The older children billowed the parachute gently up and down whilst the toddlers ran through the centre, giggling away. A period of mayhem ensued when children ran through the parachute whenever the letter of their first name was called!
We hurried downstairs, tummies rumbling! Before the feast of hot dogs, crisps, juice and chocolate mini rolls were served, we enjoyed singing a couple of Junior Church choruses (with actions!) and ended the enjoyable session with a prayer from Hilary.
Time well spent with lovely friends.
We had a lovely turnout today with over 20 children who came to the Junior Church holiday club.
We enjoyed a variety of games ranging from the toddlers playing with jigsaw mats and church toys as some of the older children enjoyed painting and colouring. Meanwhile, a few of the girls made bracelets and necklaces with Christine whilst a group participated in a lively game of Kerplunk!
It was lovely to see all of the children, despite the age differences ranging from baby Kye at just a few months to some of secondary school age, playing so artlessly together.
Whilst the helpers generously tided up, Mandy took the children upstairs for an activity that is fun for all ages and puts a smile on everyone’s face – the parachute! 20 minutes was certainly long enough for us to work up an appetite and sit down for a well needed rest to eat the scrumptious lunch that the lovely ladies in the café had prepared for us.
A lovely morning for all and definitely something to look forward to for the duration of the summer holidays!
