Thoughts & Prayers

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mary Shreeves’s family, who passed away on Monday 20th November. The funeral is at Triangle Monday the 4th December at 2.30pm. If anyone is going to the funeral no Black to be worn. Thank you.

If you have any concerns or worries and you would like someone to pray with you after the service, please let Hilary know.

Advent Liturgy

We light the first candle on the Advent Ring to remind us of the longing of those of the past, and of the need for our own individual preparation of our hearts and minds as we look towards the celebration of the birth of our Lord and His coming again.

Please remain seated during the singing.

1.Light a candle in a darkened place.
In its flame see hope on every face
Christ our Saviour is will be born,
Herald a brand- new dawn,
So let it burn.

2.In the darkness, see the coming light,
Word of God speaks through the darkest Night
Keep watch, the time is near
Time for hope and not for fear,
So let it burn.

Lord Jesus, Light of the world, just as Abraham and Sarah yearned to hold a living promise in their arms, so we long for the true comfort that is your presence. We need you; many are lonely, frightened and lost. We wait for you; come quickly.

Comfort the people living in darkness, oh glorious Lord of light. AMEN

Advent is the first season of the Church year, leading up to Christmas, and it includes the four preceding Sundays. This morning was the first service of Advent and it was led by the Revd Hilary. It was also this year’s Toy Service.

To Christians, Advent is the coming or second coming of Christ and the service began with the Advent liturgy led by Church Stewards, Jamie Blatchley and Glennys Astley.
