Christmas Day - "While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son."Asubuhi njema na Karibu, Jambo, Bonjour, Goeiemôre, Goedemorgen
Good morning and we are delighted that you are with us today. We hope you find your time of worship helpful and uplifting. This morning Revd. Hilary Howarth is leading our Christmas Day Service.
Lighting the Advent Candle is led Joyce and Bob Read
Advent – the time of longing, waiting and anticipation – is now at an end.
We have revisited the story of waiting for Christ’s birth and the reality of living in the in-between time of his return.
But now is the time of celebration because through Jesus’ birth, God has brought comfort to us, God’s own people and we can now focus our hearts and minds on his being present among us.
We are newly strengthened by the promise of how wonderful God’s kingdom fully present with us will be.
We are now – and will one day be even more – a people living in the light. Some people dwell in darkness, living in a world where there is pain and sorrow, but Christ's light is here for ALL!
We light the Christ Candle on the Advent Ring to celebrate his birth and His coming amongst us. We represent by this candle the Light that is our Saviour in the world, that His light remains forever with us in the world until His coming again.
5. Mary found true favour with the lord,
Yet she trembled at his strange reward,
Knew this was the special One,
Hope for many through God’s Son.
So let it burn.
6.Do not fear, today I bring good cheer,
Jesus Christ, the Saviour now is here,
God has lit his flame of love,
Through his Son from Heaven above,
So let it burn.
Lord Jesus, Light of the world, with the global Church, the saints throughout history and the whole company of heaven, we welcome the transforming comfort of your presence.
We praise you: baby Jesus born in a stable today! We exalt you: risen, ascended King who will one-day return!
We rejoice in the ultimate consolation – when there will be no more darkness and we will enjoy full union with you, oh glorious, glorious Lord, God of light. AMEN.
