Liturgy for Lent 3
Symbol: The Crown of Thorns

Reading: Matthew Chap.27 v. 27-29

The soldiers taunted Jesus, beat him after his arrest and made him wear a crown of thorns. This crown represents the Crown of Thorns placed on Christ's head.

Verse 3 of 'When I survey ...'No. 287'
Pleased remain seated during the singing.

See from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down;
did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?

Lord, there are times when we feel hurt and abandoned,
unloved and alone. You were mocked, and to those feelings of
loneliness and abandonment was added pain, the pain of a crown of
thorns pressed down on your brow. Lord, we are with you now,
entering a little in to your pain; help us to know that you are always
with us in ours. AMEN.

I assume that these dates will not change, and encourage everyone at the Triangle who cannot attend the Courses here to be on one of the others. We may be able to arrange another Refresher Course here at the Triangle before October, which is the 'cut-off' point for all wishing to continue with their various Church roles. But please don't be complacent and leave your attendance to the last minute. Don't forget that Safeguarding is part of our Christian Church life, including its outreach, and it's important for everyone, especially when bringing children here, to feel that this Church is a very safe place to be in our modern times.
