First Friday Group - 3rd May 2019

"How I got to be where I am" - Jenny Whittle. Another well attended session and a feast of gloriously coloured artwork for our eyes and hearts.

An amply illustrated talk with Jenny’s beautiful pieces in clear view throughout, even displayed as members entered the Worship Area, destined to house the afternoon’s event.

Jenny aptly describes herself as a “Textile Artist”, someone who has sewn since being three years of age and continues to do so, constantly searching for interesting and challenging fabrics and other materials to create her vibrant collage pieces.

We travelled with her as she shared her life pattern, constantly referencing the works on display. The largest final collage depicted Jenny’s memories of Bolton and great interest was reflected by the comment of individual members, recalling their own memories. A truly nostalgic work, conjuring family, personal and social memories of our town and Lancashire history.

Overall, an immensely interesting session which encouraged much feedback from the audience members who were still talking excitedly whilst enjoying our traditional, delicious “Tea and Cake”.
