First Friday Group: 1st Feb 2019

Though it was a cold sunny snowy afternoon, 21 people arrived at the First Friday group, ready for some fun.

Rome had driven over from Manchester with his car full of different types of drums and instruments for everyone to have a go and learn how to play - the Timba (Hand drum), Choaltto (shakeil), Agogo (bell), Surdo (bass drum), and the Snare Drum.

There was enough instruments for everyone, and we started beating out different rhythms saying the words as we did it. Eventually we put all the different rhythms together and played it under the guidance of Rome. (See video).

Everyone had smiles on their faces, concentrating very hard and keeping to their particular beat on their drum. The session lasted for an hour, Rome also demonstrated some more instruments that he had brought with him and we had chance to try them too.

A well-earned rest followed with a cup of tea and cake before it was time to go.

A great afternoon was had by all.

Thank you to Margaret for arranging it (and providing tea and cake) and of course a very big thank you to Rome who gave his time to come over to the Triangle. ( If you missed this session Rome is coming back to do another one at “Holiday At Home” in July).
