FFF: Breakfast on the Beach

Mrs. Chris.Hulse was our speaker at last night’s Food, Faith Fellowship and the topic was “Breakfast on the Beach”.

There are lots of references to food in the gospels and sitting around with friends and having food is very relaxing.

This was the first time Jesus had met his disciples since his resurrection.

The disciples were very worried as they hadn’t seen Jesus since then and they decided to try and get back to normal so seven of them (including Peter) went out fishing at night. Everyone has their own way of coping when they are under stress. By the end of the night they would be calm but that didn’t work they were more frustrated as they hadn’t caught any fish. The disciples looked towards the shore and saw a figure but they didn’t recognise Jesus. He shouted out to them have you caught any fish and they said no. he said throw your nets out to the right side of the boat and the fish were all there.

At this point Peter realised it was Jesus and he jumped out of the boat and waded to shore and the other disciples followed with their boat full of fish.

When they arrived back Jesus the fire was already lit and they had fish and bread on the shore.

Jesus then asked Peter three times if he loved him and he said yes, just as Peter had denied knowing Jesus three times at Jesus’s arrest.

Each of us deny Jesus in our life at some time but Jesus is always with us and continue to loves us no matter what happens.

There are different ways of helping others as we go about our daily lives, smiling, just being there for someone or just listening but having Jesus in our heart at all times.

We then made some fish out of paper and everyone placed their fish on the barbeque.

We then closed with a prayer and afterwards collected a different fish to remember people in our prayers.

Service Review: 19th Nov 2017

The theme of the service was ‘What if John came to the Triangle today’, and after the welcome by our own minister, Hillary Howarth, and she opened the service with hymn number 264 in Sing the Faith ‘Make way, make way’ and it was sung with gusto and enthusiasm.

We then welcomed our first guest John the Baptist! Not THE John the Baptist but our own Glen dressed as John the Baptist preparing the way for the Ministry of Our Lord, Jesus the Son of God. Glen played a fantastic part and the throwing of the balls was enjoyed by all.
