Liturgy Lent for Week Two: Symbol - 30 Pieces Of Silver

Today is the second Sunday in Lent and we shall place the symbol of thirty pieces of silver.

Please respond with the words in bold type.

The love of God breaks down all barriers
Through the grace of Jesus Christ
The love of God knows no bounds
Through the grace of Jesus Christ
The love of God is not limited by human rules
Through the grace of Jesus Christ.

When we choose self-satisfaction,
When we choose self- importance,
When we choose self-righteousness,
We betray Christ’s trust.

When we fail to speak to Christ
When we fail to act for Christ
We deny Him.
And only God’s boundless love can rescue us
Through the grace of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We shall now sing Verse 2 of “When I survey the Wondrous Cross”. Please remain seated during the singing.

Forbid it , Lord that I should boast
Save in the death of Christ my God;
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.
